Lush, holy place, believed by the Ryukyuan to be the site where the goddess Amamikyu appeared.

A unesco site; the highest sacred site of the ryukyu kingdom an easy hike up The chinen kudeken mountains; with no stairs mostly flat stone steps with talls trees and big rocks surrounding the place. It’s quiet and very peaceful and we loved the view at the end of the hike. This place is believed that gods descend i to this forest; A very nice place to get away from the busy city life

The ticket price is cheap and you can buy it in the rest area next to the bus stop / parking lot. The actual location is on the hillside, follow the sign posts by the road. The path is slick, so in rainy weather wear appropriate shoes as it's a bit steep for kids/elderly. Luckily, there are English explanations and a video you can watch for more information on utakis.

A UNESCO World Heritage site. Parking not allowed on site. Parked at ticket office and then walked up a 200m gentle slope to get to the entrance. Fee is 300 JPY. This is a sacred place for their people even today. The place is preserved in good condition. However, area is small and you will see finished exploring the area in about half an hour.

Quite a unique place that is tied to the Okinawa island religion history and the smaller island nearby. Doesn't really have much to see, it's more about feeling the atmosphere and the spiritual power. Parking is quite far down and entrance is 300yen with a short introduction video. Recommend if you are driving around but wouldn't make it a must see.

A very peaceful site to visit. The clean, fresh air created by the surrounding trees and vegetation encompass the whole journey as you stroll through the majestic site. The peaceful sound of nature relaxes your mind. Listening to birds, insects, and the whistling of the trees created a very calming feel; as you and nature are one.
