Seikenji Temple
418-1 Okitsuseikenjichō, Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka, 424-0206, Japan
Founded in the Nara period, it is one of the most outstanding temples in Tokaido. It consists of many designated cultural assets such as the garden designated as the scenic spot of the country and the ume tree that Ieyasu is said to have grafted. It is also a temple cherished by the Korean envoys.

It is a beautiful temple that is not hard to get to, but is kind of hidden away. There is also a beautiful garden in the back.

Special place. Young Tokugawa studied here. Easy access from Okitsu Station. One of my favorite places in Japan.
