Sozenji was founded in 1205 by Honen Shonin's disciple Chimei Shonin (Kiryu Kokura person, Sonoda Taro Seike) in the village of Kokura, in the mountains west of the textile town of Kiryu. Later, in 1370, in the middle of the Nanbokucho period, it was opened as a Zen temple of the Rinzai sect by the 45th Todenshi Keizen master of Kamakura Daihonzan Kenchoji Temple, and its long history and lanterns have been passed down to this day.

I visited two weeks after the New Year. The parking lot can accommodate about 5 small cars. It's a little narrow. There are many types of goshuin, and it can be difficult to know which one to choose. For now, I chose the seasonal version. Depending on the type, there are items that you can write down and record. It's like climbing a mountain, so depending on the season, you can feel nature.

A temple built on the slope of Mt. Kiryu. Maple trees planted from low to high places welcome you. Located in the Kanto region, where the maple leaves rarely turn red, this is probably the place where you can see the best color.

Autumn leaves 🍁 depend on the amount of sunlight, but this is the second time today that I felt that they were more vivid and beautiful when viewed from the back. I also wanted to go there in midsummer when the crape myrtles are in full bloom 😄

It was my first time visiting the shrine. It was a beautiful day with beautiful autumn leaves🍁, and I took pictures while walking around, and received many kinds of Goshuin stamps and limited-time Goshuin stamps. It was the best handwritten stamp image in decades. The flower chrysanthemum was also made of chrysanthemums, and the Daruma statue behind the main hall was also wonderful. Parking is free.
