Sumiyoshi Shrine
2 Chome-5 Suminoe, Otaru, Hokkaido 047-0014, Japan
Since ancient times, the Sumiyoshi Sanjin have been likened to the star located in the center of the Orion constellation. These three stars rise perpendicularly due east and set perpendicularly due west, so they served as guideposts for the voyages of envoys to Sui and Tang Dynasty at a time when there were no compasses. For this reason, he was worshiped as the god of navigation and the god of guidance. You can see the Orion constellation above the main shrine from the approach.

I don't think it's an operating temple. I went yesterday, thinking it was sun, so I came bck again today, it's still closed. But the grounds were still well maintained, and felt peaceful and serene.
