Large park. Nice to walk through with greenery all around. Too crowded in the cherry blossom season but worth to visit. Lots of tasty food stall in cherry blossom season. One of the best park in Japan for cherry blossom.

Its a nice park to walk around. Each season offers a different variety of flowers. In the spring you can see cherry blossoms. In the summer you can see lotus flowers. In the fall you can see the leaves change colour. In the winter you can see baren tree branches. I highly suggest to go to the park after a rain shower or when it is slightly overcast to take a nice shot of the environment. Ultimately photograph composition is your decision.

Very beautiful park. Worth putting in your itinerary if you happen to visit Joetsu or nearby towns in Niigata. Lots of statues. Nice for a leisurely walk. Benches around the area, too. Great for sunset viewing. And photography if it’s your interest. Plus Takada Castle is also within the area.
