My husband and I went to the pizza festival today. It was a fun visit.

If you have some extra time at hand you can visit this first winery of Japan. The entry is free however most of the exhibits are in Japanese. It has old equipment and talks about the history wine making in Japan. There is small train and it's coaches as well which was used to transport stuff in the winery. The entry is free. There is shop selling some of the product as well.

Popular tourist spot in Ushiku. Accessible by walking from the station - East exit. No too crowded even on a weekend. You can visit the free museum, where you can learn about the history of Japanese wine.

This is the oldest winery in Japan. It has a nice achitectural design. its good to take pictures here and buy some souvenirs in the mini shop. The winery will be closed until 4pm only. This place is so cool.

This place is called a chateau for a reason - they actually made wine here in Japan all the way back to the Meiji era. The buildings are authentic, garden is gorgeous, the museum shows the rise and fall of the Kamiya family. A true hidden gem for those who are tired of the usual Tokyo route. The restaurant dinner service needs a reservation, I cannot stress this enough. The prices are quite cheap considering the high quality of the food, drink & service, so it's a local hit. A very cool experience. Definitely recommend!
