Beautiful and unique shrine in the middle of Kyoto downtown. Located in Gion area and full of character and natural charms. The main hall of the shrine is a lovely sight with the prayer hall in front of it strung with lanterns serving as the stage for many a cultural performance throughout the year. The night version of this shrine is really super cool! Love it!!

Kyoto is blessed with so many shrines that one would take ages to really cover them all. This one in particular, the Yasaka Shrine, is among the many dotting this city. Located towards the end of Hanamikoji Street at the T-junction, you won't miss the big red arch greeting you at the entrance. Inside, there were few street vendors selling food just before you enter the main area where the temple is.
