This place exceeded my expectations… admittedly it was a gorgeous day to see the coast and buildings, but a fascinating spot to learn about early Japanese film making and culture. The coffee shop has Italian sodas which hit the spot in the 35 degree heat! The carp and cod to feed in the river are also huge!!!

absolutely wondrous. an old village by the sea? reminds you of what Japan really was. is. you fall in love with the movie and the life depicted in it even if you haven’t seen the movie completely (like i)

An old style Japanese film studio. Has some sets and a museum you can visit and walk through. It’s small but if you’re in Shodoshima you didn’t come for large scale things. This is a fun place to walk around. Super cheap admission price. Standard Japanese gift shop for you to shop at inside too.

I really enjoyed touring this movie set "village". I have never seen the movie, whose title I would personally translate as "24 Twinkles" (instead of 24 Eyes, which sounds creepy), but the movie set school rooms reminded me of the school I attended. The cafe above the theater was a very relaxing space to take a break.

It's a really relaxing place with a lot of historical memory of japnese old style movie. by the way, the soy sauce ice cream tastes quite good.
