Come here before noon, there were few people. I started my tour at the main building where you have to buy the ticket. Then move to the water bridge(free) and the front gate(free but if you want to go up you will have to pay too & no photography for this one) The main building, i’m really excited to observe the garden. (Hojo garden) I love to sit at the terrace. It was a short wonderful time. I wish i could live there. Along the way they also provide some introduction video so you get to know more about history related to this place. The space that they don’t let you photograph is another highlight in the building which is the sliding door painting inside. There were tons of them and i really enjoy looking at each pieces. It’s a noble experience for me to appreciated this. A good time to explore around this temple. I’m also stop by to pray at the lecture hall (Hatto)

Easily our favorite temple in Kyoto, regardless of the season because of its broad appeal, various attractions, including beautiful gardens and the aquaduct. There is never a time when the temple isn’t busy, so don’t bother waiting, although the mornings is likely the best time to come. Highly recommended and a can’t miss if you don’t live here.

Really enjoyed this place. Inside you get off your shoes before wandering around the large temple complex with magnificently painted sliding doors and many views into gardens of various styles. Somewhat you get all garden styles of Kyoto in just one place! I also recommend going up into the huge gate (dai mon) that requires a separate entrance fee. It’s worth it. It gives you amazing views onto Kyoto and the trees, especially in autumn when the sun is getting low.

A tranquil and modest sized temple, its highlights include its nice gardens, and being able to see inside rooms including one on display where monks would sit. It's inexpensive, and quite a calm and peaceful visit. There's also a tea room set on Tatami with a view of a garden and small waterfall if you have time.
