Notes

Megijima, also known as " Ogre Island," is a picturesque island in the Seto Inland Sea, just a 20-minute ferry ride from Takamatsu Port. The island is deeply connected to the legend of Momotaro, a cherished Japanese folktale. According to the story, this is where the ogres once lived, and visitores can explore the caves believed to have been their dwellings. The island also features an observatory offering panoramic sea views and beautiful beaches perfect for relaxation. In the afternoon, a 20-minute ferry ride will take you to Ogijima. This small island, known as " Cat Island," due to the friendly cats that roam its streets. The island is a quaint fishing village, and you can explore the narrow, winding paths. Both islands participate in the Setouchi Triennale, an international art festival set to return in 2025. However, visitors can still enjoy several site-specific artworks that remain on display, making these islands a cultural and artistic delight before or after the festival.
