While there is some history to the European houses here, we felt that its more of a tourist trap as you have to pay entrance fee for each and every house just to view it. We were on our way to the Botanical Gardens anyway, so just passed by this area. Nothing special or anythimg to shout about, but if you really need to see them out of curiosity, then do pay and have a peek. No harm trying. 😁

We went very early and the establishments were still closed. But from what I see it is a nice place to walk around and admire the old world European charm of the western style influenced buildings there.

I didn’t pay for the tour or the ticket entry for anyof the houses since i was on my way to the ropeway station on foot and visiting Kitano wasn’t a priority for my kobe day trip. But if you have time to recommend for you to go for it.

Well preserved foreigner district of Kobe. It's lovely to walk and explore the area. There are many places to visit but it is not necessary to visit all the museums. Just pick the one to your liking. But the first place you should visit is the former drewell house, which is a souvenir shop / museum. There is a vdo room where you can learn about the history of Kitano Ijinkan, and it is free to enter. Although the weathercock house is close but the area around the place is lovely and filled with cafe and small shop.

It’s a really nice place to hang out for a day. There are plenty of museums and preserved old houses to visit. Coffee shops and restaurants choices are abundant, too. The only thing maybe pushing you back is the slope. Make sure you have a pair of good shoes and prepare to walk.
