Notes

Kagoshima is Kyushu's southernmost major city and the capital of Kagoshima Prefecture. The city has a rich history as the former seat of one of Japan's most powerful feudal clans, the Shimazu, who played a central role in the Meiji Restoration. The city is watched over by the roaring Sakurajima, an active volcano just opposite the city, which regularly showers Kagoshima with ash, so pack an umbrella in case of heavy falling dust. Visit the main attractions around the city centre, and Sengan-en, a traditional garden and stately home in Kagoshima built by the 19th head of the Shimadzu family, Mitsuhisa, in 1658. Sengan-en uses the principle of "borrowed scenery", and incorporates the background elements of active volcano Sakurajima and Kinko Bay as part of the gardens.

  • Please arrive at the designated location 15 mins prior to departure, as the tour will be delayed and might increase the final time, resulting in extra fees by the guide.

  • Please arrive at the meeting place on time. If you are late for the meeting time, it will be regarded as voluntary abandonment, and there will be no refund or compensation.

  • Travelers who leave the tour group and withdraw from the tour activities after the tour activity has started cannot request a refund of the tour fee.
